We arrived Friday 4/8/23 around 1pm for a 2 night stay for my Birthday, reception told us room would not be ready till 3pm which was fine and we went for a stroll around town. We went back to reception around 3:15pm and advised room wasn’t ready, it could be up to 5pm before it was ready but should be ready soon if we would like to check back in 15 minutes or so. We had a drink in the bar and then went back to try to check in again. People going up to the reception desk asking 2, 3, 4 times if there room was ready, causing undue queues at reception and stress to both staff and guests. Simple solution, check in, your room is not ready yet, can I check your mobile number and we will text you when the room is ready! Not rocket science, saves undue stress for all. Numerous people complaining at reception that they had been overcharged for their stay Served warm white wine at dinner Meal service 4/8/23 – My wife requested her steak medium with her surf and turf, the steak came cremated, more than well done, I had requested the sirlion but it was so tough it was like an overdone pork chop, very poor indeed, would have been better getting carry out from the chippy across the road Breakfast both days, cant believe there is only ond toaster, 60 – 70 people sat for breakfast all queing to use one toaster! Seriously, that is an absolute joke, again every table around us complaining about the time to get toast and that there tea or breakfasts were cold due to the wait they had to get some toast. The position of the toaster is another issue, put it beside the tea / coffee facilities as guests could not access some of the buffet as there was queues of guests standing in front of the serving dishes awaiting toast. We had an afternoon tea organised on the Saturday, we phoned down some dietary requirements in plenty of time and the girl at reception said she would ensure this was passed on, yep you guessed it, it wasn’t passed on and when the stand of sandwiches came out we had to request that it was changed as we had requested dietary requirements. The waiter took away the plate with the sandwiches, sausage roll and the haggis bon bons. On its return with the correct sandwiches there was no sausage rolls or haggis bon bons which we again had to ask for and these were then returned. By the time this had all happened our tea was finished and we had to request another pot of tea A table of 4 older woman sitting next to us had the same issue and we could hear them complaining their tea was cold before they received their food With regards to the Afternoon tea, I don’t understand why we were allocated the smallest table in the restaurant, the waiter brought the tray with the tea then a while later brought out the sandwich tray, he really struggled to find room on the table for the sandwich tray and we had to try and juggle thigs around to try to fit everything onto this small table, surely its common sense to have a bigger table when all these trays are to be put out, with tea cups, side plates, ice bucket for proseco and proseco glasses (Proseco was warm too) Still on the afternoon tea, what are the 2 items that you would supply along with the tea? Milk and sugar of course and still we had to walk around other tables to find sugar as none had been supplied to our table Staff in the breakfast restaurant were using pink/red cloths to wash tables from which guests were eating, it is British Standard to only use these colour of cloths in TOILET AREAS, thus I am very concerned to see your staff are cleaning tables with these cloths which may have been used earlier by one of the cleaning staff to clean a toilet, you can understand why I felt ill and couldn’t finish my breakfast and felt ill

Hotel reply...

Dear Mr McCance, I am sorry to hear you were unhappy with some aspects of your stay, I will start by disputing your fear that we use PINK cloths for cleaning our restaurant tables for toilets, this absolutely does not and never has taken place. Toilets are cleaned by a public area cleaner, of whom uses nothing to be then be used in our restaurants. With regards to check in and rooms being available, our guests receive a confirmation email and a pre-arrival email informing everyone before arrival what they can expect, this also states that check-in is available from 3pm to 5pm, this is stated on the hotel noticeboard also. I am sorry to read that you had issues with your meal and steaks, I believe these issues were not addressed to our restaurant manager or staff who would have been happy to resolve this for you. We serve hundreds of afternoon teas and there are many tables to choose from again if you had mentioned you felt the table was too small we would have happily moved you. Mr Robinson General Manager

A lovely hotel, we had a recently refurbished room looking out to the front of the hotel. The food was delicious at breakfast and dinner. The only thing I would say is ensure you check your bill when you sign for it at the bar, as we had an issue with someone else using our room number, as we hadn't been told we had to sign anything. A bit of a mix up with food order in restaurant on 2nd night, with waitress getting orders and bills mixed up, but Gareth got it all sorted out for us. Big shout out to Graham the hardest working barman, and Claire the bubbliest receptionist. Although a quiet place, would defo go back.

Room was lovely but gap on door let's in alot of light. On the whole staff where friendly but could give a bit more information when checking in. For example where the pool is,bar and restaurant. The dinner on the 1st night was average. The afternoon tea was lovely and spa area very relaxing.

Wonderful 3 night stay. The food at breakfast could have been warmer (my preference - they weren't cold my any means) however the dinners at night were fabulous. The pool area is lovely. We upgraded to a front facing room and have to say it was well worth the little bit extra to have all the space. Only complaint was out room wasn't cleaned over the weekend however we were able to collect towels and milk etc from the extremely pleasant receptionist. Will definitely book again and would have no hesitation recommending The Angus to friends and family.

Excellent value for money at the tribute night. Food choice good, set menu at tribute night could have had more options or pre bookable as choice was limited x

We really enjoyed our 3 night stay at the Angus Hotel, just 2 comments to make. I scored the room 8 only because our bed was hard and lumpy making it uncomfortable. Other than that absolutely delighted with our room which overlooked the River Ericht....beautiful. The food we had was all beautiful, presented very well and piping hot, no complaints at all. What I would have liked to see was a couple of 'ordinary' starters like prawn tail, breaded mushrooms or pate. Not everyone is into 'fancy food' All in all we had a fab stay at the Angus.

Lovely stay as usual at the Angus Hotel. Friendly staff, clean rooms and great Spa. However , on our second nights stay we had dinner in the restaurant and we were served two desserts which where out of date, blue mouldy and smelt awful.

Common areas in the hotel are lovely as are the staff. We were allocated room 125 which was directly above the party night room meaning we had a disturbed sleep. The room was very dated and tiles in the tiny shower enclosure were loose. The net curtains fell off the rail as the hooks didn't fit correctly and the floor tiles in the shower room were cracked. Thankfully the bed was super comfortable and breakfast delicious. If we were staying again then we would ask for a refurbished room as £129/night was quite expensive we felt.

We had a lovely stay here, staff wonderful and friendly, room nice but a bit uncomfortable with the heat....it was 26c when we were there but on checking out we were advised we could have had a fan at reception. Food lovely, Claire on reception was so bubbly, helpful and friendly! We'll definitely visit again.

Just returned from a 3 night stay, The location is right in the middle of town, our room was a little dated and a little scruffy around the edges but it was clean the bed was comfy and the food was tremendous 5* quality we also went along to the Spa for a dip after our afternoon tea to celebrate our wedding anniversary would highly recommend the hotel. The town it’s self was a little on the quite side for us but still enjoyed our stay.

Hotel was good with an excellent spa and staff. Our room was very tired and needs an upgrade urgently. Blairgowrie is a great place for a weekend break.
