Room was too small, service from staff not great. It felt like they did not know what they were doing it was a bit of a muddle.

Had a fantastic stay all Covid protocols in place . Special mention to Kenny who looked after us in the restaurant and at breakfast and Claire who sorted another room for us due to a water issue . Fabulous food . We had 2x breakfast, 2 evening meals and high tea . Hotel is being upgraded and look forward to seeing the courtyard etc when it is finished.

Had a lovely time at the Angus hotel food was amazing ... staff were so nice and went out there way to help you... the only thing i would say is there was like a sewage smell in the bathroom which wasnt pleasant dont know if it was because o the renovations.. the hotel is gng to look great when finished

Where do I start... Sat night we got a cosy double even though I had said I needed a walk in shower due to back issues. Bought a bottle of wine called wicked Lady £21 it was warm. Waiter was new and said fridge was broken. Ice bucket was given. Husband said Lager wasn't nice. We left and went to another beer garden. Our room was tiny following day I asked for one with shower lots had left. They gave us key to another room much bigger. But noise from fans from 6am woke us. Food was just ok. Booked breakfast for Monday but was full emailed reception and they emailed back saying 9am. 9am no no no u r booked at 9.45am go away till then. Breakfast was not good out of items. And then on Tuesday no breakfast tea and toast as restaurant shut mon to fri. Building work swimming pool was so cold we couldn't swim in it. Was told changing rooms out of order go down with towel from room. Definitely would not recommend absolutely awful. Oh and Sunday bottle larger only as pumps failed and coolers broken. And I had to help a 3 yr old child out in corridor as Dad locked him out of room just in a nappy. Dad was sleeping I had to phone hotel who phoned dad to wake up absolutely a nightmare

Our room had no socket anywhere near a mirror which was very inconvenient. Meal on Thursday night was nice until I found a very long hair in my curry. The next night we waited more than half an hour between starter and mains. I ordered steak and it was almost inedible and the peppercorn sauce was disastrous. On telling the young waiter he shrugged and took our plates away. I asked him to fetch me the manager and after waiting ten or more minutes I discovered he hadn’t yet told the manager. The restaurant on the first night was absolutely freezing and the outdoor area had no heaters making for a very uncomfortable drinking experience. I will not be back and will not recommend.

Service rooms food excellent, just opened, but wine/beer was warm, pool cold and still under refurbishment, dissatisfied with this. I would use this hotel again.

A pleasant hotel with pool (big bonus) and spa in a great location. Deal included afternoon tea (lovely) dinner on first night and a good breakfast. Sliding bathroom door did not fully close. Care needs to be taken using shower as water pressure is very high and water scalding. Pillows need replaced though beds were comfortable and room was clean. Pleasant staff. Tables in Jutemills cleaned when tables vacated after afternoon tea and breakfast but this did not happen in restaurant - rather important these days. Good value for money.

For the money we paid we could not fault. Staff were very friendly, especially the foreign lady at breakfast. Breakfast was really good with plenty of options but was confused with table service for cereal, yoghurt etc but had to go up to the servery for cooked breakfast albeit staff member plated it. If it was for public touching tongs etc at the cereal station I understand that but when the pot of tea came etc staff were not using gloves. We have stayed in a few hotels recently and this is the only establishment that had salt and pepper on the table it’s usually been small sachets of salt and pepper as many hands are touching the salt and pepper cellars which were not wiped after customers left the table before next customers sat down. Which is fine if everyone sanitised their hands which we did witness a few who did not. ? Friends we were with both had to return their meal the second night which was disappointing. I was happy with mine as was my husband. The room had everything you needed, nothing fancy which we didn’t expect with the price we paid. The shower was great. The bed was massive and very comfortable.However..... the heat in the room was stifling and the window only opened a fraction, even with the radiators turned off it was still stifling. I didn’t sleep well at all due to the heat the first night. I have breathing problems which was exacerbated due to the heat, having to take my inhaler a couple of times during the night. This will be reflected in the scoring.?We requested a fan for the next night which we got, this made a huge difference. It was self service to check in and out, there was hardly ever anyone at the reception , anyone could be walking in and out with no track and trace. We met my brother at the hotel for lunch on the last day. We had already checked out before 11am. Returned to meet brother and wife , ordered lunch , none of us were asked for anything for track and trace which we were surprised about. The staff that were on duty wasn’t staff we had seen before. Maybe something could be looked into a bit more Covid measures or perhaps other hotels we have been at have more measures in place that need to be but in all honesty I felt safer in them than the Angus Hotel.

Staff were all very polite, courteous and mindful of COVID restrictions. Food was delicious. Hotel is getting a wee bit dated but kept very clean and tidy. The newly refurbished “breakfast” room is very nice.

Had a Fab three nights at this hotel. Good value for money and well situated for a drive to enjoy the countryside round about. The hotel was spotless as was our room, bathroom looked very new with a lovely strong shower over the bath. All the staff were very friendly and answered any queries we had. The staff at breakfast and dinner were very hard working, no table was left waiting long to order , or being cleaned after people left, this was done keeping strictly to covid rules. Our bed was comfy and our room had everything we needed. We would recommend this hotel for a nice break and value for money. We hope to be back.

Had a very nice stay, staff were all helpful and friendly, food was good, really enjoyed breakfast,a great service. Hotel is in need of a lot of updating, the carpet in our room was totally threadbare under dressing table. Hopefully it will be done in the future.

The staff were good even the receptionist who had a very loud voice,(someone needs to tell her to tone it down a few decibels) The jacuzzi wasn`t working and no-one seemed to care, the outside beer garden had a log burner full of ashes and debris and there was broken chairs lying about, the plant containers were full of weeds and there was mushrooms growing in them, every two hours through the night the water pipes all through the hotel banged like a bass drum in a pipe band and you could hear guests running their sinks trying to clear the air locks but to no avail, this went on the whole 3 days i was there, the floorboards in the resturant were so loose that when the staff walked by the table you had to hold on to your drinks for fear of them spilling,i wont be back, ever! ps.i almost forgot, the headboard on the bed was leather and it was cracked and flaking off and bits were landing on the pillows,so now you know.

Check in and out procedure needs some work. Whilst we are in the midst of a pandemic, this does not mean we cannot speak to people. Having stayed at a few different hotels they still have actual people dealing with check in. Not a machine that either didn’t work or people were standing having no clue what they were doing whilst a queue the length of the Great Wall formed. Meantime staff member is standing listening to the phone ringing and not bothering to answer before deciding she should probably assist with the queue and take someone through to the office to pay. I had offered the night before to pay for additional drinks and food but was told it would be payable on checkout. Had payment been taken at the time, I wouldn’t have been part of the mammoth queue. Food was lovely, swimming pool great. Fantastic that there’s different slots and that there’s times for adults only. Room was clean and comfortable. Overall a pleasant stay
