Although the bedroom was a little tired the friendly staff and food made up for it. Had an enjoyable and relaxing stay.

Very enjoyable stay. Food in the restaurant was very good as was the service from our waitress. Only criticism is that the tumblers in our room were not clean, similarly, cutlery at breakfast not clean - we had to wipe on our napkins before use.

Friendly welcome from reception staff. Bedroom clean and comfortable, great to have use of an iron and ironing board in the room (stored in the wardrobe). Lovely breakfast and evening meal, waiters and bar staff were efficient and friendly.

I had an enjoyable stay at this hotel. Did not use the pool however had a massage which was very relaxing. The food at dinner was amazing and I thoroughly enjoyed it, the salmon dish in particular was something special.

Lovely hotel in beautiful grounds. Food good and well presented. Friendly staff. We stayed in a standard room which was clean and presentable. Excellent value for money.

The selection of vegetables was most restrictive. 'Mixed vegetables' during my 3 night stay consisted of sliced carrots and mangetout. The latter were never trimmed making for awkward eating I am sure there is a wider choice of fresh vegetables available at this time of year. After all, there was a surcharge for all side dishes on the menu. On the credit side the allowance of 23 pounds on the dinner package was reasonably adequate to cover the cost of most meals.

Disappointing stay although staff were generally helpful although overstretched. Public areas generally good condition but our room was small and crowded with furniture which meant there was little space to unpack two suitcases. Tired decor and half size wardrobe (who's idea was that?). Room 125 has absolutely no outlook as it is above the kitchen with constant extractor fan noise till late at night. Window looks on to the gable end of main wing so no view of gardens or even a tree. Will not be back

Thank you for your feedback following your recent stay. I have noted your comments regarding staffing levels which I am currently in the process of investigating. I am pleased to inform you that we have recently launched our rolling refurbishment of the hotel; as a result of this our bedrooms are in the course of being updated. Kind regards, Jamie Mackie

The staff are very pleasant and helpful and this made up for a few difficulties with service and food. When we last visited, the hotel was with the De Vere chain and overall the quality of food is not quite as good now. The Spa area has had a re-vamp since our last visit and we used the pool each day. Our room, which was kindly upgraded by the Duty Manager, was of a good standard. Being in the old building, the floors are very creaky and this may disturb some people. Despite a few small problems which were quickly responded to and resolved, we enjoyed our stay and would be likely to return again at some point.

We were a group of four staying recently at Barony Castle, spanning 15-89 years! The hotel suited us very well: my disabled mother had use of the disabled access room and access to most public areas was easy for her in the wheelchair, breakfast was good with plenty choice including some freshly cooked options, dinner at night also afforded plenty choice, although it is a set menu which looked like it ran for some time, all staff with whom we came into contact were very pleasant and very respectful especially towards my mother. The hotel is in a nice setting with plenty grounds to walk round, mostly not wheelchair accessible. However, there were areas where it was very pleasant for her to sit. Rooms were clean and well equipped, perhaps corridors were less pristine, but we enjoyed many aspects of our stay and would have no hesitation returning at another time. The pool was small, but was a welcome place to go in the hot summer weather.

Lovely hotel in fantastic surroundings. The check-in was speedy and very polite, the rooms were clean and large although the bathroom wasn't the biggest, and the restaurant was very good. Staff throughout were excellent. Well worth another visit.
