Barony Castle Hotel, Peebles

Just returned from a 2 night stay at hotel which included dinner on both nights and a cream tea. The food was excellent and the service from all the staff was friendly and very professional, they are all an asset to the hotel, especially the restaurant staff. Nothing was a problem and they all took time to speak to all guests. The decor in the hotel and in our room was modern with a traditional touch. Maybe the only problem was the lift out of order which made getting to room on the third floor a trek, but hey we can do with the exercise. Overall a truly lovely stay for my husbands birthday will definitely return.

Hotel needs refurbished desperately, can hear everything in the rooms next to you and wallpaper etc peeling off walls. Staff are lovely very friendly and willing to help. Food was fantastic both nights. Would return for a day but would not stay over night again unless in a suite.

Lovely hotel with a long and interesting history. Very friendly staff, well appointed. lift out of order during our stay. Good food in lovely dining rooms and a comfortable bar. Good pool and sauna.

This hotel is in a beautiful setting and we spent an enjoyable couple of hours exploring all the nooks and crannies in the extensive grounds. In the hotel itself, the bedroom suite we stayed in was fabulous and way beyond our expectations. The staff were polite and the food was very good. Particular mention should be made of the bacon at breakfast which was the tastiest I've ever had in a hotel. My only slight criticism would be the dimness of the lighting in the lounge area, but all in all a very enjoyable stay.

Hotel was nice unfortunately the room we had was looking into the kitchen bins area which was not the nicest view and noice from the kitchen and extractor fans were quite noisy. This did reduce at midnight. The advsetised booking did say a room upgrade was part of the deal which did not seem to happen. Would book again however would hope that room allocation would be better next time

we upgraded to a junior suite and wee disappointed to have no spare pillows, just two teabags and not not very clean windows. Pleasant staff are trying but one feels that they are very constrained by rules

I went to stay specifically for the Spa facilites which I found disappointing, the jucuzzi was warm ish, and the pool small and not very good for swimming. We lost our key ( which we later found) and when asked at reception if it was handed in a sober male memebr of staff informed us that we would need to pay for a new key, fair enough but felt like a school child being told of by headmaster. Other than these little issues had a good night away, all othe staff were great as was the dinner and breakfast

The room we were allocated overlooked the car park was pleasant but unfortunately once we settled for the night the throbbing of the heating system or water system droned on so much I didn't get any sleep and in the morning told the receptionist who immediately found us another room at the other end of the building, which was very peaceful and I slept like a log. The food was lovely and the staff were really nice. It was a lovely stay and the hotel

We had a most enjoyable stay at the Barony Castle hotel. Nice setting , excellent food and very nice helpful friendly staff!! This place to be thoroughly recommended. It would have been nice to have had two chairs in the bedroom which is our only complaint.Possibly if we had chosen a more expensive room there would have been two chairs.The swimming pool is small but very nice for a bit of exercise. This was a good place for exploring the borders.

The staff at this hotel are fantastic! Especially one of your cleaners who has been employed with yous for over 30yrs. She was so kind and helpful to us throughout our 3 day stay. The guys thag worked in the bar and restaurant where so nice and couldn't go out there way enough to help.The 2 blonde haired girls seemed like they didn't want to be there? One in particular the tallest seemed scunert to be working at all. The reception staff were fantastic. We paid an extra 45 pound to be up graded and where disappointed with the room, it had a hole in the wall and tea spilt down the wall and radiator, also the jacuzzi didn't work! The manager kindly managed to fix it on thd 1st night but then no one was able to let us know after that if/when it would be fixed. A young polish worker on the reception promised us it would be seen to, and when we asked him later on how he got on he hadn't dealt with it and told us we were too late now to get it fixed! !! His service was terrible. Seemed nice, smiling and being polite, but he didn't seem to understand or appreciate our frustration. Reported all of this to the management on leaving. We are awaiting a refundof

My friends and I had a very enjoyable and relaxing overnight stay at the hotel on a Sunday night saver deal which was extremely good value for money. The staff were friendly and welcoming. Our room was nice with a lovely view of the gardens. Our evening meal was very good.
