We enjoyed our 2 night break with our friends who were in the room next door. The rooms were newly refurbished and work was going on in rooms nearby but did not really interfere with our time there. A couple of issues with the rooms but they were rectified. There were weddings on both of the evenings we were there, both were rather loud but did not cause any undue hassle. All of the staff were excellent, we enjoyed all of the meals.

Lovely location and friendly, helpful staff. Very spacious bedroom and very good food. Only gripe would be that the service in the restaurant at night could be better organised - on the first night we waited 50 minutes to order our desserts after finishing our main course! Overall great value for money.

Wasn't disappointed in any way by this booking. A lovely, friendly greeting from Hannah on reception set us up for our stay. Having got such a good price for the two night stay I assumed we would be in the rooms yet to be refurbished, this was not to be the case. The room was immaculate with everything you would expect from a 5* room - and this in a 3* rated hotel. This leads me onto the restaurant - exceptional quality food, great portion sizes and service that did the chefs efforts credit. In short, our two night stay was fabulous, and we would come back again without doubt. If you think the price is too good to be true, it isn't - the place is a bargain. Book now folks.

Room cold at night - Coffee maker broken- too many stairs between Reception and Disabled room. Wet room welcomed but no power shower. Super Duper toilet. Lovely room - Good Wifi - Restaurant - Breakfast Cooked Buffet cold - good coffee though. Better selection of breads would help. Dinner Chips needed crispier but steak done to order. Northumberland Stew nice but onions poor - suggest more late summer veg than only chopped potatoes - mash was out of order.

Another (our second this year) very enjoyable stay at the Derwent Manor Hotel. We had the biggest room we have ever had at any hotel - room 245. Only down side of the room was that the TV had no remote - might have been n - so we had to change channels manually and had no access to teletext etc. As usual, the staff were excellent - as good as any other hotel we have stayed in. They are very efficient, attentive and friendly - a credit to the hotel. The food was first class again with no complaints. The room was cleaned daily and we were very happy with it. We used the Leisure facil every day and there were a couple of issues here. The first night - after we had visited - the pool was closed as the water was cloudy. This was due to a problem with a pump - this had also impacted on the jacuzzi which was only half full. To their credit however, the issue was fixed for the following morning which as very impressive. The sauna was closed throughout our stay and had been, we were told by other users, for about 2 weeks. This was a breakdown and they were still awaiting a new part from abroad - up to 3 weeks does seem a long time however. We did not use the bar, but it seemed very popular, with many people using the outside seating areas. A children's play area has been added which is a positive thing for families visiting. Would not hesitate to return to this hotel and would certainly recommend it to anyone thinking of visiting this lovely area of North England. Thanks again to all at the Derwent Manor for their excellent courteous service and another very enjoyable break.

This is an excellent hotel and easily deserves a 4 star rating. The rate we got for a 3 night DBB via myhotelbreak was fantastic. Beautiful location and although rural, very convenient for Durham, Beamish etc. Highly reccommended.

Superb room, well laid out and nice decor. Could be explained at check in that kettles are available as tassimo machine is not for everyone's taste!.Food quality good and dinner experience was good though breakfast experience I feel could be better. Breakfast menu was explained though it needs to be made clearer that fried or poached eggs need to be ordered. Staf pleasant and work hard. Would recommend this hotel to others.

Each of the three nights we had to remind dining room staff they had not deducted our £15 allowance against dinner. The computer system seemed to be complicated !!! All staff pleasant and efficient.

The staff and this hotel are friendly and welcoming. The room was spacious, well equipped and clean. The food is good quality and portions are generous. HOWEVER. There were 2 weddings when we were there and the noise level from the functions was horrendous. Fortunately our room was at the far end of the hotel but other guests were expected to sleep in rooms below the function suite with music and dancing until 1am. Another smaller issue was allowing guests into the dining room in pyjamas, a bit lacking in taste for me.

Good value for money, rooms refurbished, large and comfortable. A bit expensive for taking our small dog, most we have paid anywhere. Don't know how it is justified!

I would rate this hotel higher than a 3 star. I would have preferred a simple kettle with tea bags, coffess etc. The toilet seat in the room (241) needed tightening - would have done it myself but toilet surround is sealed with mastic. Have recommended it to others and I would consider coming agan

We had a superb 3 day DBB break a Derwent Manor Hotel. Our room was excellent, very spacious with a large en-suite. The views from our room were fabulous. Restaurant offered a very good selection of meals, both set meal and a la carte. All meals were beautifully presented and most enjoyable. The breakfast buffet was one of the best we have seen. All staff were very friendly, always smiling and helpful. We couldn't single out any one - they were all A1. One of the best and we will certainly be back.
