A fab hotel and the food was fantastic. All the staff were very friendly and helpful. The only disappointment was the complimentary bottle of wine in the room - the seal was already broken and the wine tasted as if it was off, there as a wine stain down the label of the bottle which was suious!

Booked this hotel for our anniversary. I could not fault the hotel staff for the way they looked after my wife and I. It was our first visit to this hotel, the room we were allocated was faultless and massive, the decor, comfy beds and cleanliness of the room was second to none. The restaurant staff were also very attentive and friendly. The food was of a great standard and the meals we had were delicious. The gym equipment was great and so was the pool and spa facil. I hope to return to this hotel with in the near future. Thanks for a great stay.

This was our 2nd stay here & we had decided to upgrade to the suite. The suite was lovely, however the shower was so small you would not even be able to swing a cat in it. I struggled & my hubby, who is larger than me, could barely fit inside the cubical. This would have been fine, as we had a lovely Jacuzzi bath in the main bedroom, however as I like to was my hair prior to bathing, this was impossible to do as the extendable showerhead did not work. Therefore I had no choice but to use the tiny shower prior to going in for my bath. To top this off, when we came back into our room after dinner it was freezing. A member of staff came along & informed us that the heating was not working as they were renovating the room above and something had been knocked off causing the heating in our room to not work. We later found this to be a LIE, as we found that the pipes in the small shower room for the heating were not even connected. There were 2 portable heaters in the suite, which we did use, however this were too noisey to use through the night. At an extra £50 per night, booking the suite is not worth it, although the hotel did not add this charge due to the above. I found our experience this time to be very disappointing, compared to last time. Even the food was not as good. We had mussles on the 1st night, which were a 3rd of the portion size we had on our first visit. I pointed this out to the waitress, who did offer to get us more, however as we had finished eating them we declined, she did however take the cost of our wine off the bill. The breakfast were disappointing, as the bacon was like cardboard & the beans had been sitting under the heat far too long, but by this time I was fed up complaining, so said nothing. To top all this off, we were told that the power would be off in the hotel from 11am to 3pm on the Tuesday. This meant that our planned relaxing day at the hotel, with an hour or so in the spa, had to be cancelled, and we had to go out for the day. Then the finally was when the fire alarm was triggered at 10.30pm & I had to call reception to check if we needed to evacuate once the alarm had stopped, and was advised no, no apology came for the false alarm. I had just been nodding off & was now wide awake and unable to get back to sleep for several hours. We were advised that the suite we were in was in the quieter end of the hotel, which avoided noise from doors opening & closing ect. However they failed to advise us that someone, not sure who, maybe the staff or the builders, were using the fire exit nearby and this was getting opened & closed regularly (probably adding to the reason why our room was so cold, as the corridor was also freezing) and that the cleaners supply cupboard was close by, which meant again we were being disturbed from this opening and brining out their stuff. Overall the visit to the hotel thus time was very disappointing. Although the staff were all lovely, a lot of the problems could have been avoided. We had already booked for Jan for 4 nights for our 29th wedding anniversary, and were thinking of upgrading to the suite, however we will not be upgrading and are seriously thinking of cancelling the whole trip

Where do I start ,from the moment you enter this hotel you receive a friendly welcome from lovely receptionists . The hotel; although still undergoing upgrading is beautiful. The rooms are spotlessly clean & tastefully decorated with everything you could need. The food is fantastic ,dinner was the best I have had & breakfast was great. The staff are all efficient & friendly. The leisure facil look amazing & the grounds were lovely with a play area for the children. There are also lovely walks all around. We had a wonderful stay & would go back anytime. Loved it.

Great 2 for one deal for DB&B with Myhotelbreak made this a real bargain. Rooms were excellent, twin rooms had two double beds, a big (46"?) TV and a fancy coffee machine. The staff were very friendly and helpful but not all appeared well trained, there were mix ups at booking in and out with wrongly allocated rooms and prices. it was all sorted out with a little bit of a delay at both ends. Nice grounds and a pool and fitness centre were an added bonus. The Restaurant very smart and and food was good but the fixed price menu was the same on both nights and it was understaffed for breakfast on our second morning with the buffet not replenished quickly enough. Apart from the few hiccups above it was a very pleasant stay, and I would certainly consider going back. Very Good but so easily could have been Excellent.

excellent facil, refurbishment in progress and we had a refurbished room which was lovely but a bit dark. Bathroom needs some hanging hooks but apart from that it was excellent. Pool could do with a spinner to take water out of wet swimwear. will definitely be back.

We were fortunate enough to get a 2-night DBB deal at the Derwent Manor Hotel through myhotelbreak.com and we were so impressed with the quality of the hotel and of the service we received. The hotel is an excellent blend of old world character and modern comfort, all encompassed in an envelope of friendly and professional service designed to make your stay all you would wish it to be. The food quality was really impressive as was the range of choice through either the a-la-carte of table-d'hote menus. We will definitely chose to use the Derwent Manor again when in the area.

We loved every thing about our stay . The food was delicious . The room was perfect . The staff were extremely pleasant and helpful. Our only complaint was that our favourite bar was closed for renovations and the alternative bar was poorly staffed.
