We enjoyed our 2 nights DDB + wine mid-week break which was very good value. We had a refurbished room which was very comfortable, particularly the firm beds. The only drawback was a shortage of hot water when large groups were staying. After a cold shower the first day, I soon learnt to check the water temperature. The staff were very pleasant and welcoming. However, I would suggest having a bell at reception to be able to call when staff are not there. The food was good although one or two dishes were rather below standard. The desserts were excellent as was the breakfast, cooked to order and copious. It was lovely to sit or have a stroll in the grounds after a meal. We would, certainly, consider having a break there again.

We have recently had a Biomass boiler installed which we are still figuring out the best settings however when a large number of people all have showers/ baths at the same time it does take a while for the tanks to heat a new load of water, our sincere apologies for your cold shower. We strive to provide the best service and dishes possible it saddens me to hear that we did not achieve this with some dishes, I would be very grateful if you could email me with the details of those particular dishes so our chefs can work on improving them or if necessary replacing them. sales@tintohouse.com I am happy to hear that the weather was pleasant enough for you to be able to take advantage of the surrounding grounds, the garden is lovely and there are some excellent walks around the local area. Lovely hotel, great staff. very helpful with my 88 year old Mum who stayed at Tinto House hotel with us. Nothing was too much trouble. Would happily stay there again if we were in the area.

Excellent value 2 night mid-week break. Staff extremely pleasant at all times. Service was splendid, even though a large coach party were also staying 1 of the nights. The staff and management were very attentive at all times. Lovely peaceful setting, lots of seating available in reception/bat area. The food was well presented and cooked to perfection. Varied menu. bedroom on front was spacious, clean. new towels daily, bathroom on small side but adequate. would certainly recommend.

Very disappointing! I had high expectations especially after recent other hotel experiences via Classic Britain however this place did not live up to expectations. There appeared to be one member of staff in attendance throughout the hotel on the afternoon of our arrival with people waiting a length period of time in reception so i went looking and eventually found her in the restaurant area. I had specifically asked for a room in a quiet location as i am easily disturbed however we were allocated a room directly opposite double doors at the top of the stairs which meant direct people traffic. I wasn't really concerned at this early on as the hotel appeared to be very quieting and lacking residents however later that evening, a large group of students and cyclists appeared. We could also hear our neighbours clearly having conversations through the walls and they were pensioners not loud drunks! The room was also above the entrance to reception and faced the car park so lots of traffic, people noise not to mention the railway! Absolute hell! Constantly disturbed throughout the night and early hours of the morning, we had late checkout of 12 noon but were so tired, disappointed and weary we left around 10am after breakfast. The rooms were quite a let down also, we were aware they are currently having a refurb however the bathroom decor, fixtures and fittings were old and worn and quite unclean. There was also a broken toilet roll holder on the wall which caused me a couple of injuries as the space between the bath and wall to sit on the pan was very limited. As i turned around to sit down on the toilet on one occasion it caught my butt cheek and came off the wall, my butt cheek was gashed & bruised the next day, very unpleasant. We were on a DBB break, the food was "okay", choice very limited and not much atmosphere in the restaurant, we felt quite awkward actually. All in all, not a very pleasant experience, sadly disappointing.

As mentioned in my reply to your review o Tripadvisor I do wish you had made management aware of the issues at the time. The staff are happy to help and we of course never wish for anyone to have an unpleasant stay. If you had made us aware of the room issue we could have checked for an available room elsewhere in the hotel. If the broken items was reported it could have been fixed. If you wished to have another option for dinner the chefs would have provided if they had know. If you had contacted us directly we could have come to a happy solution.

Enjoyed a our stay at this Hotel, which was in a good location for visiting Scotland and surrounding area. At time of booking we were aware it was being refurbished and under new management. First impressions where what a lovely Hotel, reception, dining area all looked lovely with beautiful gardens surrounding it. The room we stayed in was basic, bathroom was dated, shower unit and taps needed replacing, all in all just needing some comforting upgrade. The service was friendly and welcoming, when you could find them. Breakfast where very good, not have to wait too long. Evening meals where good, having 3 options on a DBB deal was a bit limited on choice and lacked taste on three occasions, so could do with improvement to make it a more enjoyable pallet. Will visit again some time in the future when its been refurbished to standards.

Thank you for your comments on the dinner menu options, we do also have an A' la cart menu which can be chosen from instead of the evening dinner menu which if you are on a dinner package you would have an allocation towards the A'la carte menu, this should have been offered as an option to you. A nice refreshing three nights at the Tinto House Hotel. All the staff were extremely pleasant and helpful. The room was very comfortable and clean but bathroom facilities were a bit dated. There was some refurbishment work going on during our stay but the impact of this was negligible.

We booked a late room deal last week (4th July) as we planned to walk the next day it gave us a lovely relaxing evening and no traveling in the morning, we had dinner, bed and breakfast. Our room was very nice and very spacious, dinner menu for our booking had three choices for starter, main and desert (though I believe there was another menu for walk ins to the restaurant this was very adequate)the choices were great and the portions were very good (so much so we could not manage a desert though they looked amazing)service was very good throughout the hotel(special mention to woman organising restaurant and barman who chatted and were very friendly and welcoming)breakfast was self serve for cold plates with a good choice and hot full Scottish breakfast was cooked to order. Special mention to "The bigger the better" rum cocktail (it was lovely, well worth a try...) We will certainly be returning.

we really enjoyed our stay and all the staff especially at dinner worked really hard and made you welcome, the food was good , our room was basic but for one night was adequate and very clean but the views ,and quietness in the area made up for it we only stayed 40 mins from the hotel but did not know that area existed , we had an excellent deal and would definitely go back and recommend it to our friends ,family

We had a brilliant time. My niece was married here some 20 years ago, so it was nice to return and reminisce. The staff were really nice and friendly and made us welcome. We had a lovely big room with good views. Would certainly recommend this hotel and we will go back. We have made a few bookings with Classic Britain and have been very satisfied on every occasion.

returning from an enjoyable 2 night stay at tinto house hotel. upgraded bedrooms were very well appointed and comfortable. the staff were all friendly and helpful.The food was ok but the choice was a bit limited.Overall the break was excellent value.

Our bedroom was lovely, bed was ok, bathroom needs up dated, shower terrible, running hot and cold so had to have bath. On check out they tried to over charge us on bar bill and couldn't find the receipt to prove anything. They should change their policy by showing your room card and signing for anything you will pay on check out as the reception said it happens all the time.

The shower and bath are both from the same supply so if a hot bath was managed I would have hoped for the same temperature in the shower - certainly not ideal and I am sorry for the issues it caused. Our standard policy to to present a room card when signing to a room but we would certainly never seek to deliberately overcharge which is why we present a full itemised bill for your scrutiny before taking any payment from a card. Attractive hotel where refurbishment has taken place. We received a very warm welcome from the manager. Reception staff were very friendly and helpful. A little disappointed with the staircase we were directed to as a short cut to the bedroom - just a bit damp and requiring some redecoration. However, the bedroom itself was clean and comfortable. The furnishings were a bit worn but as on a special deal we were accepting of this. Unfortunately there was no hairdryer (or iron) but the manager on duty was very helpful and provided one on request. Unfortunately our evening meal was disappointing. Clearly some of the food had been plated up in advance so had become less than fresh and appetising e.g. cucumber was dry in the salad, sauce on fish was a little congealed, cheeseboard cheese dry... The vegetables were overcooked so lacking in colour and the roast potatoes tasted as though cheap frozen fare. This was such a pity as the reviews we had read made a point of praising the food. Fortunately breakfast was far more freshly cooked and very tasty. Overall our short break was pleasant and I look forward to seeing the hotel once the refurbishment is completed.

Good morning, Thank you for posting your review. I am delighted to say that our 'short cut' staircase has been fully redecorated and is now of a far higher standard. With such a magnificent main staircase we originally did not highlight the rear staircase at all but found that several guests found it far easier and quicker to get to and from reception and subsequently raised it as in issue that they were not informed of its usefulness. As a result we now highlight it for several rooms and have had it smartened up. We are in the process of upgrading bedrooms across the property but have a very limited amount of refurbished rooms - our original rooms remain very popular and with a high degree of comfort as you highlight. It is very rare to read such wholesale disappointment with the standard of food. I would be keen to know if you raised your concerns at any point during the meal or stay and if we were given the opportunity to redeem the situation in any way? I am sorry that what should be a real highlight to a stay feel short of reasonable expectations and I hope the matter was resolved whilst you were with us. We booked the 2 nights B&B with 1 night dinner offer, which was very reasonably priced. Room, service & breakfast were excellent. We were a bit disappointed with the breaded haddock that we choose from the dinner menu. We would choose to stay at Tinto House Hotel again for a short break.

My husband and I stayed here on an offer break of DBB & btl of wine. It was very good value for money. The main area of the hotel and especially the beautiful stained glass window are very nice. The room was basic and a bit dated but lovely and clean. The bed was comfy with nice quality bedding. The menu was basic but good value for what we paid. Only gripe is we paid extra for the steak which could have been cooked better. Breakfast was really good. All staff were helpful and friendly.

We have just returned from a 2 night break at Tinto Hotel. We had a really lovely stay, the manager was such a pleasant, friendly, helpful young man and made us feel very welcome. Our room (16) was lovely as was the ensuite. The food was very good and the choice was good as well. All the other staff we found to be very friendly. We look forward to a return visit.
