Lovely hotel, will book again for next year. Both breakfasts and Evening meals were delicious and rooms comfortable. Ideal location in the centre of town. Very pleased.

Our booking was for 2 nights bed breakfast and dinner + free wine with dinner, hotel reception refused to provide a voucher for free wine on our second night claiming that the management had instructed that that the offer of free wine with dinner applied for the first night only, as a result we had to buy wine at £20 a bottle on our second night.

A very hospitable hotel with efficient and knowledgeable staff. Breakfast was a varied menu catering for all tastes and the evening meal was plain but appetising. All in all a good hotel which I would recommend.

Excellent service. A wee hiccup with our booking as they only had one room for us instead of two but managed to squeeze us in and gave us a very generous discount because we were put in a smaller room.

Had a lovely break at Fishers, big, comfy room with king size bed. Only downside was the pillows were too firm and being an old building, we could hear the people above walking around. Reception was friendly and quickly ironed out a couple of minor issues. Restaurant was friendly and professional, quickly bringing out our meals. These were of a very high standard and were delicious. Small carpark was full so we had to park behind the hotel at the railway station at a cost of £1.50 per day. Do some locals use it whilst doing their shopping? The public bar was busy at nights and even though we bought the same two drinks, the price sometimes varied between rounds. I would definitely return to this hotel and would have no hesitation in recommending it to others.

Hotel needs to be updated. Food portions too big. Foreign staff very friendly, British staff need training on customer service.

Had a very pleasant stay @ Fishers. We had a family room as only one available. It was a large room overlooking garden which needed updated but was fine for our needs. Hotel was very busy on our arrival date. We were lucky that our room was ready as others were having to wait. Food in restaurant was very good though we had a lengthy wait between our starter & our main course. We could see others who had come in after us being served much quicker so was disappointed when no apology offered for our wait

The hotel is ideally situated. The staff were extremely friendly and efficient, especially Daniel in the restaurant. The room was large, quiet and overlooked the gardens. Nice bathroom but the décor of the room needed updating. In the afternoon We had a lovely cream tea in the lounge. But there is a downside, the restaurant food is definitely not up to scratch. My husband had pate to start which was a slice of some unidentified cooked meat, and a leaf of limp lettuce. No dressing and no freshly cooked bread. The main course was ok, but my husband's cheese and biscuits platter was truly appalling. A slice of orange supermarket cheddar, a few cream crackers and a few old gs. Definitely not good enough. One other point although it might sound minor, the requested jug of tap water arrived very promptly but it would have been better if it had some fresh lemon slices and ice in it. The breakfast was very good except for the sausages which were absolutely dire. It seems that in some parts of West and Central Scotland the food is just a throwback to the worst kind of 1970's cooking. Not what visitors want or expect. Having said all this we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would recommend it to our friends but would suggest they ate out in the evening.

Excellent staff, very good food and I'm sure that the rooms will also reach an acceptable standard once the refurbishment programme is completed.

We have stayed at the Fishers Hotel many times before but this visit was by far the best, from the welcome to check out everything was excellent. The quality of food and freshness and choice was very good and our room was huge and so relaxing, can't wait to go back.

We had a very enjoyable stay at the Fishers, the staff could not have been more friendly or helpful . The room was huge with beautiful views & the food was very good. The only disappointing point was the shower pressure, but we were 2 stories up in Victorian building. We will return.

We have stayed before. Once again staff were very friendly and accommodating. The food on our inclusive deal was simple but well cooked and satisfactory. The room, however was disappointing. It was very noisy. The noise from other residents was possibly the worst I have ever experienced in a hotel. Some of this is the responsibility of the inconsiderate residents but the sound deadening was poor. In addition, the electric hand dryer in the adjacent ladies WC wall was very very noisy and needed replacing or repair. It awakened us on a number of occasions. The disabled shower room was fine until the shower was used. The temperature fluctuated and the whole of the floor flooded as the drain was apparently blocked. Had it not been for a threshold the water would have flowed into the bedroom
