The hotel was a bit tired in places, hallways & bedrooms !! Bedrooms was a big letdown, beds were very uncomfortable, no way a 4 star, there was 4 of us there 2 couples, one couple celebrating there 25th wedding anniversary, I got there room upgraded, & told the hotel of their celebration, I t was disappointing to see they had put 2 single beds together, which they also said was very uncomfortable.. They had to turn mattress,, my back has been very sore since returning.. The bathrooms were also very basic & in need off upgrading !! Mould & green mould around bath & tiles .. I spent a weekend there a few years ago, and the rooms were good, it was my choice to return, but was very disappointed !! As it has went downhill..) none of us complained as we didn't want to spoil our weekend, ( I did mention on departure about beds though ) the food , breakfast, dinner, was great no complaints .. And staff was lovely..

Room back on to lane at side of hotel and was the back off pubs on the next street which blared out music till quarter to 4 in the morning bit disturbing should maybe consider secondary double glazing windows spoiled the night

First time at this hotel and it will not be the last. Nice clean room with tea/coffee.iron and hair drier. Staff were very friendly and helped with any request. There is a bit of work going on at the rail station but it didn't bother us too much. Highly recommend the hotel for a short break in Carlisle.

Had a great weekend at the hallmark Hotel got a great room the food was brill and they catered for gluten free and I gave Classic Britain a great review on TripAdvisor the price for my weekend was great.xx

Friendly welcome but was not told where to find room or there was a lift. Room ok decor was a bit in need of some TLC, extractor fan in bathrroom was dripping water all over toliet and floor. Service in restaurant was good but food was not so good, over heard another guest if fish had been cooked in microwave !!! Second night ordered a steak it came on a board my pet hate these harbour lots of germs and don't keep the food hot as a hot plate would do, cut into my steak only to add to my disappointment it was not rare and very cold as was the chips so sent it back my partners meal arrived on a plate and hot. Eventually my new steak arrived and all the chef had done was cook it even MORE! !!! So sent that back ordered pork schnitzel when it arrived it looked like a big lump of burnt breadcrumbs it also went right back.Also think they need to check their plates bowls they put out for breakfast I sent 6 plates back to the kitchen as all were dirty on Saay morning and anothet guest had to send dirty plates back on Sunday morning also saw a guest checking at least 6 bowls before she got a clean one. I can safely say we will not be back.

This hotel was smashing a wee bit dated in the bedroom but the bar and resturant were lovely the staff were very friendly and attentive especially Louise in the dinner resturant

hotel is a little dated but clean and tidy. staff were very friendly ,food was good and bar even better.

The stay was made good by the staff when we arrived they had not received instructions I gave about the shower .The ramp unfortunately is no good for a normal wheel chair the staff were brilliant and moved rooms for us food was delicious as was the wine xxx

Three of us stayed at the hotel for 2 nights. One of the rooms had to be changed out, there was a net screen on the bed and a musty smell in the room. To top it off the chef opened the door and walked into the room late at night. The food I have to say was terrible; I had two dishes that had to be returned and my brother and his partner were both sick on return to their room

Good location friendly staff, food was poor unfortunately the chef let the staff down, but waiting staff very helpful. Breakfast was ok eggs were like rubber and the crockery was gritty had to go through a lot before I found a clean bowl.we had a executive room it was very roomy and nicely decorated but they have let themselves down with the bathroom it is so old and dated and defo stele needs a makeover.

Had to ask to change room as they put us in twin rooms and we had asked for double on the classic Britten site other than that hotel staff were very helpful and would go back with no problem

Thank you for your feedback. I am sorry to hear you weren't 100% satisfied with your stay. I am really surprised about the comments regarding the chicken dish you refer to. This is one of our best selling dishes and we usually get really good feedback from our guests on this dish. Again we usually get really good feedback from our breakfast too. We did have a wedding in the hotel on the Saturday night, last orders from our function bar is 12.30am with finishing time of 1am, we monitor the noise levels constantly along with the noise of the night clubs across the road from us, so they would have been within the acceptable noise levels. I am glad to see you gave us higher ratings for the service and bedroom. Many thanks for your comments, I do hope you will return to us in the future to try us again.

Position of this hotel near train station and pedestrianized street at night,full of bars and clubs around corner, made it extremely noisey throughout the night plus taxi rank opposite bedroom windows police everywhere throwing people in back of their vans!! Disappointing as we were looking for a nice quiet relaxing weekend shopping and sight seeing - we were shattered on the Sunday after hardly any sleep On a positive note the food and staff were very good at this hotel just unfortunate location so near so many bars

We had a relaxed time. Staff were helpful but also unobtrusive. Wr were so busy talking after dinner that we didnt notice the time and the staff didnt bother us at all even though they were delayed finishing up. Receptionist was also very helpful and welcoming.

we had a bit of a problem with a noisy fan outside the room when we arrived and would not accept it,but this was quickly resolved by the staff who were very helpful.the price of food and drink are far too high for this establishment.

room was good and the food was excellent - seemed to be confusion when we paid the bill as they tried to charge for dinner even though we had the deal for DBB and sparkling wine

Stayed for one night on a really good deal for DBB+ wine and upgrade. The hotel was full so we didn't get the upgrade which was understandable. The room was ok - but the furniture was a bit shabby. The bed was really comfy though. Dinner wasn't great - we tried to order the Chateaubriand and were told - it's on the menu but we never have it as it hardly gets ordered. The sirloin was gristly - not just fatty. Breakfast was really good. On balance - I'd stay for Bed and Breakfast again but would probably eat dinner out. For the price it was good.
