We spent an enjoyable 3 nights, 2 DBB and 1 BB last week. The hotel is very nice, convenient for Carlisle, the Lake District, the Scottish Borders and Dumfries. We had a lovely room, very clean and fresh. Restaurant was excellent, food very good and well served. All staff very friendly and efficient. Would highly recommend.

the hotel was fine for what we paid for it.the staff were friendly and helpful. The room we were in only had a shower which didn`t work very well and when you turned the basin tap on you had to stand a foot away from it as it seemed to have a air lock and the water shot out.The meal we had on the first night was spoilt by being covered with too much sauce,it was swimming in it. As i say for what we paid we can`t complain.

had a lovely weekend room was fabulous food and staff where fantastic, everything we asked for wasn't any trouble at all. apart from being woken by the fire alarm in the early hours which we found hilarious and wasn't down to the hotel it was due to irresponsible guests smoking in there room. we had a lovely stay and hope to return again.

Gretna Hall is an old favourite. Our stay was warm and comfortable. Breakfasts excellent quality of food although hot buffet items not cold but cool ++. Dinner on first night enjoyable although we had a wait of an hour + for our sweet. Having allerted two members of staff that we were still waiting on our sweet one member told us it was being made! and another just didn't return to let us know why our sweet hadn't been served. Eventually spoke with the Manager who admitted that our order has been lost. Our choice of sweet at this point was no longer available but an alternative was brought. Manager aptly dealt with situation. Just another small gripe. Price list for alcohol in room was out of date and because of this we thought we had been overcharged at the bar for a bottle of wine. A definite next to do on their list. All in all we thoroughly enjoyed our warm, relaxing and comfortable stay and YES we will return.

Great value for money. Room was a little small but clean and comforarable. Dinner was great in both the restaurant and from the bar. Fantastic breakfast both mornings of our stay with plenty of choice and all freshly prepared. Would definitely stay again in the future.

Very dissappointed in the room we were given. It was very tatty and in dire need of a refurb. The dining room staff were very pleasant which was more than can be said for receptionist when we checked in on the Saay. Sorry but we wont be staying in this hotel again.

Had a nice relaxing break, food was awesome, one thing that spoiled it was a group of people both young and old attending for breakfast in their night wear apart from it being very unhygienic it wasn't a pretty sight

We had a relaxing break, which was what we wanted. Food was good and staff were really friendly . Although the hotel is quite big it felt like a family run hotel .

Having been to Gretna Hall Hotel before I knew roughly what to expect. But not this time. Nice as you drive up the long drive to the hall. Reception is nice when the open fire is blazing away. But yet again our booking couldn't be found. I booked via my hotel break.com as before. So unsure if the fault lay there or not. The pleasant receptionist soon sort us out with the two suites we had booked. Upon arrival to the first suite the Sheridan Grant, first impressions where favourable. But 5 days later not so, as the empty champagne bucket, bottle & glasses where still there from day one. For several days rubbish wasn't emptied from the bin or near it on the floor. One day housekeeping put on all the lights in the suite & left them all on all day. What a pity they didn't report to maintenance the blown bulbs in several lamps and ceiling lights too.Housekeeping wasn't very good during our stay at all. The bare minimum was done to both suites. The bathroom in this suite is rather dated, a corner bath that as seen better days with shower above. No shower curtain just the rail. The other suite the Wakefield Turner was in my impression much better. A large hallway with a large bathroom off. With a nice looking roll top bath with shower over it. Nice looking it maybe. But a rather impractical peace of bathroom equipment it turned out to be. The shower was next to useless as it was all or nothing and the roll top bath was rather high to get in and out off. I wasn't impressed at all. The four poster bed looked nice but wasn't the most comfortable bed I'd slept in. The cheap duvet was as thin as paper and the pillows where small flat, cheap and nasty I'm afraid. I expected better in a room of this category. The TV in this room was in a cabinet you opened the doors and pulled it out. What as shame the housekeeping staff never did as the dust behind it was thick. If you didn't open the thick curtains, you would come back to the room that evening to find out neither did the housekeeping staff, as I said earlier bare minimum was done each day. As we left we could see the clean sheets & pillow cases lying on the carpet in the hallway ready to be placed on the beds for the next customers! The dining room staff where pleasant. The food as per my last stay was of good quality and had a daily changing menu. The hotel had a large number of workmen staying while we where there. One evening none of them had changed and where sat eating / dinning in there work clothes which did leave me to wonder if I was in a hotel dining room or a works canteen. I wasn't that impressed with my latest stay here. Your probably just as well booking a standard room from my impression of the suites on offer. Gretna Hall Hotels saving grace is it quaint charm and history. The stay would have been much better if a lot more attention to the small details where taken care off. Unsure if I would bother to stay here again.

Great price however was supposed to get best available room, Room was dirty and very poorly maintained, kettle was filthy as was bathroom which smelt of stale urine. Avoid this place at all costs, in serious need of a complete overhaul. Had bar meal on first night, very over priced for very basic meal. On a plus note breakfast was nice as was dinner on second night. Had stayed previous, (in a refurbished room) and loved it however not the case this time. On check in was not informed of breakfast times or check out times and there was no info in the room to inform of these. Unable to connect to Wifi as signal not strong enough ( had brought laptop to catch up on some Netflix)therefore unable to do so. Very unhappy with overall stay.
