Things to see & do in Kilmarnock
Kilmarnock is twelve miles north of Ayr in east Ayrshire.
The Burns Monument location in Kay Park was built on honour of Robert Burns in 1879. Unfortunately in 2004 a fire destroyed part of the monument. The building was restored and extended as a genealogy centre, reopening as the Burns Monument Centre in 2009.
Kilmarnock has a wide range of shops for all tastes, has a lively nightlife which includes pubs, clubs and a cinema. Kilmarnock is a great base for touring Ayrshire, Isle of Arran, and Glasgow and Loch Lomond are little more than 1/2 an hours drive away.
