Things to see and do in Port Ellen
Port Ellen is a small town on the island of Islay. Islay is the 5th largest Scottish island and is also the most southerly of Scotland's inner Hebrides.
The north east coastline of Port Ellen is one of the island's most attractive and has the added advantage of being home to three out of Islay's eight working distilleries, Ardbeg, Lagavulin and Laphroaig, all of which welcome visitors.
As the main port on the island and home to the CalMac ferry terminal, Port Ellen is the main gateway to Islay for most visitors.
The island of Jura is just a few hundred yards to the east, separated by the Sound of Islay, and is reachable via a 5-minute ferry crossing.
