Things to see & do in Tavistock
This fine and flourishing town, the largest in West Devon, with its architecture of local stone, wide range of interesting and practical shops, market, riverside park, leisure centre and theatre, is excellent for visitors, both to see the town itself and as a base for exploring the surrounding beautiful countryside, the wild Dartmoor scenery, the many nearby pretty villages of Devon and Eastern Cornwall, and a variety of National Trust properties.
Unique shops are plentiful in Tavistock and include the 1000 year old Crebers delicatessen and multi award winning Country Cheeses. The town also boasts a bustling market scene with a farmers market held on the town square twice a month and a covered pannier market held five days a week that dates back to 1105.
