Things to see & do in Berwick Upon Tweed
During the centuries of wars between Scotland and England, Berwick's proximity to the English-Scottish border led to a succession of raids, sieges and take-overs. Between 1174 and 1482 the town changed hands between England and Scotland more than 13 times.
From the top of the Elizabeth Town walls that were built to protect Berwick against the Scots, you can take in some spectacular views over the wide estuary of the River Tweed including Stephenson's famous viaduct bridge.
Berwick is home many different things to see and do from visiting the Maltings Theatre and Arts Centre to the Berwick Barracks and Main Guard.
